AGRICOLA, IGNAZ. – German Jesuit, born at Zusamalheim, in the diocese of Augsburg, on 31 July 1661, died at Munich on 23 January 1729. He entered the Order on 29 September 1677; he was a professor of literature and rhetoric and then, in 1719, director of the Latin Congregation of Munich. He wrote the Historia Provinciae Societatis Iesu Germaniae Superioris (Augsburg 1727–29), in two parts, covering the period from its beginnings to 1600 and rich in information. The work, left unfinished, was continued by his confrères.
