LUDOVICO ALBERTI. — Augustinian theologian, b. and d. at Padua (1560–1628). The tombstone in the church of SS. Philip and James describes him as the first of his Order to have publicly taught Sacred Scripture at the local Gymnasium.
Among his works in Latin are a life of St. Nicholas of Tolentino (1610) and of St. Clare of Montefalco (1610); De reali praesentia Christi in Eucharistiae Sacramento (1613); De operibus sex dierum et de terrestri paradiso (1618); De praedestinatione et reprobatione (1622). Mazzuchelli notes that ten volumes of his lectures remained unpublished.
