ALBERTI, LUDOVICO. – Augustinian theologian, b. and d. in Padua (1560–1628). The tombstone, in the church of SS. Filippo e Giacomo, calls him the first of his Order who «in patrio Gymnasio Sacram Scripturam publice docuit».
He wrote in Latin, among other works, the life of s. Nicola da Tolentino (1610) and of s. Chiara da Montefalco (1610); De reali praesentia Christi in Eucharistiae Sacramento (1613); De operibus sex dierum et de terrestri paradiso (1618); De praedestinatione et reprobatione (1622). Mazzuchelli reports that ten volumes of his lectures remained unpublished.
