ALBERTI, Philipp. - German Carmelite, originally from Nussia (Neuss, Rhineland), d. at Frankfurt in 1506. He entered the Carmelite Order at Frankfurt, earned a doctorate in theology at the University of Cologne, and taught at the University of Paris and later at the University of Cologne. In 1496 he was appointed prior of the Frankfurt convent. His contemporaries celebrated him as a distinguished philosopher and theologian, a skilled orator, and an ingenious thinker.
