ALBERTO GIOVANNI of HAARLEM. - Carmelite, born in Haarlem (northern Holland), where he took the religious habit; died in Louvain in 1496. After studying in Louvain, he was lecturer in philosophy at Brussels (1470) and regent of studies at Louvain (1473), in whose university he taught Sacred Scripture. He was prior of the convent of Haarlem (1475-77) and vicar provincial for Holland and Frisia (1484-94). He was praised by his contemporaries for his virtue and learning. Among his works (unpublished) are: 1) *Lectura in Ecclesiasticum*; 2) *Commentarius in I Ioannis Epist.*; 3) *Quaestiones in Magistrum Sententiarum*.
