ANALECTA MONTSERRATIANA

ANALECTA MONTSERRATIANA. – An annual publication in the Catalan language, begun in 1917, with the aim of making known the life and history of the celebrated Benedictine monastery of Montserrat, so deserving of recognition for its contribution to Catalan religious, civic, literary, and artistic history and culture, and indeed to those of Spain as a whole; as well as the other Benedictine monasteries that have had relations with II.
The monographic studies, which constitute the most important part and are of greatest assistance to scholars, deal with the library, the archive, the documents preserved there (codices, manuscripts, choir books, ancient printed works), and literary, musical, and artistic works. These are followed by the annual chronicles, which present the monastery’s various activities as conducted in the spheres of religion (worship and pilgrimages), art, and culture.
