ANCELLE del SACRO CUORE DI GESÙ. - A female religious institute founded in Naples in 1874 by the venerable Caterina Volpicelli. The sisters devote themselves to the apostolate of prayer, to religious instruction in nurseries and schools of every grade, to workshops and to circulating libraries. The constitutions were approved in 1911. The institute has 1,706 sisters and about 200 houses.

ANCELLE del SACRO CUORE DI GESÙ. - A religious institute for women founded in Madrid in 1877 by Raffaella Porras y Ayllon (v.), to make reparation for the offenses that the Heart of Jesus receives in the Most Holy Eucharist. For this purpose the institute cultivates in a special way devotion to the Sacred Heart and gives the greatest solemnity to eucharistic worship through perpetual adoration. It has free schools for children, retreat houses, eucharistic and Marian congregations, clubs, and religion courses. It was approved by the Holy See in 1887 and today numbers over 2000 sisters in 50 houses.

ANCELLE del SACRO CUORE DI GESÙ. - A religious institute founded in Kaunas, in Lithuania, in 1921, to remedy the mixed education of young people of both sexes. The sisters devote themselves to the instruction and formation of young women who are preparing for teaching, in order to make them teachers in the true Catholic spirit. Before Lithuania was incorporated into Russia, the institute bore excellent fruit with the full satisfaction of the local ecclesiastical authority. It had 5 houses with 100 sisters.
