ANCELLE del SACRO CUORE DI GESÙ. – A female religious institute founded in Naples in 1874 by the ven. Caterina Volpicelli. The sisters devote themselves to the apostolate of prayer, to religious instruction in nursery schools and schools of every level, and to workshops and circulating libraries. The constitutions were approved in 1911. The institute has 1,706 sisters and approximately 200 houses.

ANCELLE del SACRO CUORE DI GESÙ. - Female religious institute founded in Madrid in 1877 by Raffaella Porras y Ayllon (v.), to make reparation for the offenses received by the Heart of Jesus in the Most Holy Eucharist. For this purpose, the institute specially cultivates devotion to the Sacred Heart and gives the Eucharistic cult the greatest solemnity through perpetual adoration. It has free schools for children, houses of spiritual exercises, Eucharistic and Marian congregations, circles, and courses in religion. It was approved by the Holy See in 1887 and today numbers over 2,000 sisters in 50 houses.

ANCELLE del SACRO CUORE DI GESÙ. - Religious institute founded in Kaunas, Lithuania, in 1921, to remedy the mixed education of young people of both sexes. The sisters devote themselves to the instruction and formation of young women preparing for teaching, in order to make them teachers in the true Catholic spirit. Before Lithuania was incorporated into Russia, the institute produced excellent results, to the complete satisfaction of the local ecclesiastical authority. It had 5 houses with 100 sisters. ANCELLE del SACRO CUORE DI GESÙ AGONIZZANTE under the protection of SAN GIUSEPPE. - Institute founded at Imola in 1876 through the efforts of Lucia Noiret, and established in Bologna in 1897. It received the decree of praise in 1914 and was approved in 1935. The sisters devote themselves to the teaching and education of the young. They have 16 houses in Emilia and Romagna, with approximately 150 sisters. Silverio Mattei

ANCELLE del S.mo SACRAMENTO. - Religious institute founded in Paris in 1859 by Blessed Pietro Giuliano Eymard and Margherita Guillot; it was approved by the Holy See on 21 July 1871.

The essential purpose of the institution is Eucharistic worship, with the perpetual adoration of the Most Holy Sacrament carried out in turn by the sisters. The institute numbers 300 sisters in 15 houses.
