Andreoli, Giuseppe

ANDREOLI, GIUSEPPE. - Priest and patriot, b. at S. Possidonio di Modena in 1791, d. at Rubiera on 17 Oct. 1822. A priest of the Oblates of Correggio, A. became a Carbonaro in 1820. Arrested in Feb. 1822, he was confined in June of the same year in the fortress of Rubiera. Tried by an extraordinary statutory tribunal instituted by Francis IV, without regard for the right of the ecclesiastical forum, A. was condemned to death, and after degradation from the priesthood, beheaded.
