ANDREOLI, GIUSEPPE. – Priest and patriot, b. at S. Possidonio di Modena in 1791, d. at Rubiera on 17 Oct. 1822. A priest of the Oblates of Correggio, A. became a Carbonaro in 1820. Arrested in Feb. 1822, he was confined in June of the same year in the fortress of Rubiera. Tried by an extraordinary summary tribunal established by Francesco IV, without regard for the jurisdiction of the ecclesiastical forum, A. was sentenced to death and, after being defrocked, beheaded.
