ANGHERÀ, DOMENICO. – Priest and patriot, born at Potenzano Briatico in 1803, died at Naples in 1873. A Carbonaro and Mazzinian, in 1846 he settled in Catanzaro, where he founded an “Evangelical Society,” whose watchwords were *Pio IX* and the cry *Religione e Libertà*. Arrested after the Reggio uprising, he later became a member of the Catanzaro Public Safety Committee formed on 18 May 1848. Exiled in Malta, he settled in Naples after the fall of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies.
