HISTORICAL ARCHIVE OF THE SOCIETY OF JESUS. - A biannual periodical published in Rome by the College of Historians of the Society of Jesus (Collegium scriptorum de historia Societatis Iesu), beginning in 1932. This association, founded in Spain for the publication of the series Monumenta historica Societatis Iesu, moved to Rome in 1929 and at that time also received the task of editing a periodical dedicated exclusively to the history of the Order. The program was drawn up in 1931 by a commission presided over by Fr. Pietro Tacchi Venturi. The journal includes critical dissertations, unpublished or rare texts and sources, bibliographical notes and chronicle notes. A systematic, annotated bibliography of publications on Jesuit history from 1931 onward is continually published. The articles, written in the principal European languages, are preceded by a Latin summary; this language is used for editorial matters.
