ARMANNINO DA BOLOGNA. – Born in Bologna, he was a notary in Fabriano in 1320.
His fame is linked to the Fiorita d'Italia, a history of humankind from the creation of the world to the death of Pompey, composed partly in prose and partly in verse in 1325. Its material is drawn from ancient and medieval writers; mention is sometimes made in it of the Divina Commedia. Interspersed throughout the narrative are moral reflections, in prose and verse, spoken by the allegorical figure of Poetry.
