ARNOLDO, abbot of LUBECK. — German chronicler, who lived in the twelfth century and was still alive in 1212. After spending some time in Brunswick, in 1177 he became abbot of the Benedictine monastery of Lubeck. In seven books, he wrote a continuation of Helmold’s Chronicle, recounting events from 1171 to 1209. The information he provides, however, is not particularly reliable. The Chronica Slavorum Arnoldi, preceded by that of Helmold, is edited in G. H. Pertz, in MGH, Scriptores XXI, pp. 100–250.
