BAIA DI HUDSON, VICARIATO APOSTOLICO of. — This vicariate is entrusted to the Oblates of Mary Immaculate. The mission among the Eskimos was begun in 1912; established as an apostolic prefecture on 15 July 1925 through the division of the apostolic vicariates of Keewatin, Golfo di S. Lorenzo, and Mackenzie, it was raised to an apostolic vicariate on 21 Dec. 1931.
Eskimo population 8,050, Catholics 1,075, stations 14, priests 24, lay brothers 5, sisters 6. There is a hospital with 30 beds, run since 1931 by the «Soeurs Grises» of Montréal.
