BEATRICE II d'ESTE, blessed. — Benedictine, daughter of Azzo VII d'Este and niece of the preceding. Having already become a widow, according to some, she entered the monastery of S. Stefano de Rotta in Ferrara, where she made her profession in 1254. With the community, a few years later, she moved to the monastery of S. Antonio abate, outside the city walls, and died there on 28 February 1264, at about 33 years of age. Her cult was approved in 1774.
