BECK, JAKOB CHRISTOPH. - Swiss Protestant theologian, b. and d. at Basel (1711-85), where he taught history (1737), theology (1744), and Old Testament exegesis (1759).
His *Vollständiges Biblisches Wörterbuch oder Verbalund Real-Concordanzi* (Basel 1770) went through many editions.
Among his other exegetical works in Latin, we note the *Epitome historiae Ecclesiae V. Test.* (ibid. 1770) and three studies on the text of the New Testament (1774-76).
