BLaj. – A city in Transylvania (Romania). In 1733 Bishop INNOCENZO MICU transferred the seat of the new Diocese of Făgăraş (q.v.) there. Within a few generations, B. took on the appearance of a Catholic cultural stronghold, with a theological academy founded by Bishop P. P. ARON. Also notable are the museum and the library, rich in memories and documents for the history of the Romanian Church.
