BLAJ. – City of Transylvania (Romania). In 1733, Bishop Innocenzo Micu transferred there the residence of the new diocese of Făgăraș (v.). Within a few generations, B. assumed the character of a Catholic cultural citadel, with a theological academy founded by Bishop P. P. Aron. The museum and library are also important, rich in memories and documents for the history of the Romanian Church.
