BLAJ. - City of Transylvania (Romania). In 1733 Bishop Innocent Micu transferred there the residence of the new diocese of Făgăraș (v.). Within a few generations B. took on the appearance of a Catholic cultural citadel with a theological academy, founded by Bishop P. P. Aron. Also important are the museum and the library, rich in memories and documents for the history of the Romanian Church.
