BOUQUIN, CHARLES. - Dominican theologian and apologist, born in Tarascon on the Rhône in 1622, died in Buix in the Dauphiné on 14 February 1698. A religious, he was a professor of theology and for many years regent of the studium in Aix; he was also prior.
He wrote an extensive and profound commentary on St. Thomas’s *Landa Sion*: *Solis Aquinatis splendores circa Sacrosanctum Eucharistiae mysterium aliaque christianae religionis arcana* (Lyon 1677); and various apologetic works: *Sermones apologetici, quibus sanctae catholicae ac Romanae Ecclesiae fides contra novatores defenditur ac propugnatur* (ibid. 1689); *De l’origine, antiquité, excellente et utilité de l’état religieux en l’Eglise* (ibid. 1689); *Instructions chrétiennes et orthodoxes en forme de cathéchisme* (ibid. 1686, Carpentras 1693).
