BONACCORSI, PIERINO: V. PERIN DEL VAGA. BONACCORSO DA BOLOGNA. - Theologian, born at the beginning of the thirteenth century in Bologna, where he entered the Dominican Order and completed his theological studies. Around 1230 he departed as a missionary for Greece. For 45 years he devoted himself to the conversion of dissidents. For this purpose he wrote in Greek and Latin the Thesaurus veritatis fidei, a collection of sayings of the Holy Fathers, directed particularly against the various errors of the Greeks. He died in Greece in 1275. His work, which remained unknown, was discovered in the Dominican convent of Euboea by fra' Andrea Doto, who offered it in 1327 to Pope Giovanni XXII. Of the Thesaurus, only partly edited by Reusch, two manuscripts are preserved in Paris (bibl. Naz. 1251 and 1252) and one in Milan (bibl. Ambrosiana D 78 sup.).
