BONACCORSI, PIERINO: v. PERIN DEL VAGA. BONACCORSO DA BOLOGNA. - Theologian, born at the beginning of the 13th century in Bologna, where he entered the Dominican Order and completed his theological studies. Around 1230 he set out as a missionary for Greece. For 45 years he devoted himself to the conversion of the dissidents. For this purpose he wrote in Greek and in Latin the Thesaurus veritatis fidei, a collection of sentences of the Holy Fathers, directed particularly at the refutation of the various errors of the Greeks. He died in Greece in 1275. His work, which had remained unknown, was discovered in the Dominican convent of Euboea by fra' Andrea Doto, who offered it in 1327 to the pontiff John XXII. Of the Thesaurus, published only in part by Reuch, two manuscripts are preserved in Paris (Bibl. Nat. 1251 and 1252) and one in Milan (Bibl. Ambrosiana D 78 sup.).
