BULLETIN CRITIQUE. – The first issue appeared in Paris on 15 May 1880, following the Echo. Its purpose was to publish, from the Catholic point of view, rather than the rationalist one of the Revue critique, a series of scholarly reviews of the most notable publications in literature, history, and theology, with numerous references for scholars far from literary centers, while also offering unpublished material. It had an editorial committee that included A. Baudrillart, E. Beurlier, L. Duchesne, one of its principal contributors, A. Ingold, L. Lescoeur, F. Plessis, P. Scheil, and H. Thedenat.
