BUSQUETS, PERE. — Francesco, born at S. Felix de Guixola in Catalonia in the fifteenth century. An eminent man of letters, he was one of the most active and zealous supporters of the restoration of ecclesiastical discipline and Christian standards of conduct, in opposition to the paganizing skepticism and the spirit of pseudo-criticism spread throughout Catalonia by the Renaissance. Among his works, particular mention should be made of the two very faithful translations into Catalan of the Specchio della Croce and the Pangilingua by fra Domenico Cavalca, versions preserved in manuscript in the Catalan library of Barcelona.
