BUSQUETS, PERE. - Francesco, b. at S. Felix de Guixola in Catalonia, in the 15th century. A distinguished man of letters, he was one of the most active and zealous supporters of the restoration of discipline and of the university of Christian morals in opposition to the paganizing skepticism and to the spirit of pseudo-criticism spread in Catalonia by the Renaissance. Among his works, particularly to be remembered are the two most faithful translations into the Catalan language of the Specchio della Croce and of the Pangilingua by Fra Domenico Cavalca, versions preserved in manuscript in the Catalan library of Barcelona.
