CAJAL, SANTIAGO RAMÓN y. — Spanish anatomopathologist and histologist, b. at Petilla de Aragón in 1852, d. in 1934, noted for the histological techniques he introduced in the examination of the nervous system. Nobel Prize 1906. He also addressed certain general questions. Religiously agnostic, he is to be remembered for the critical sense with which, in the progress of his studies, he recognized the total inadequacy of evolutionary theories.
