His *Physiologie als Erfahrungswissenschaft* (translated into Italian, Venice 1843) was placed on the Index of Prohibited Books, presumably due to its idealistic tone ("philosophy of nature" of the early Schelling), but the pages on the immortality of the soul are read with interest.
