CASO MORALE, ADUNANZA del. — Gathering of priests, in the episcopal city or in the individual vicariates forane, to discuss certain subjects of ecclesiastical science; since these generally concern the field of moral theology, they have influenced the designation; but they also present particular questions or facts concerning liturgy, canon law, ecclesiastical history, etc. According to the CIC (can. 131), they must be held frequently, from six to ten times a year, according to the common opinion of theologians, and the following are obliged to participate: a) all secular priests, even if they do not hear confessions; b) all religious who habitually exercise pastoral care, such as parish priests or assistant parish priests; c) all other religious who have the faculty to hear confessions, if they do not have the c. m. meeting in their own houses; d) whenever it is difficult to gather, the solutions of the c. m. must be sent in writing (can. 131 §§ 2–3).
