CATHOLIC HERALD, THE

THE CATHOLIC HERALD. - English Catholic weekly, founded in 1884 by Charles Diamond (d. 1934), with a distinctly social character. The strongly polemical tone that Diamond, its editor until his death, imparted to it won the paper a large following, which nevertheless later declined. A broader direction has been given to the C. H. by its new owners, with the intention of making it an organ treating general topics and events from a Catholic point of view.
