CATHOLIC GUILD OF JEWS. – An association that entered England on 19 December 1917 to assist the conversion of Jews through prayer and the work of the press, as well as through conferences. Members are required to recite a prayer daily and to offer a Holy Communion for the purpose of the association. It is affiliated with the Archconfraternity of Prayer for the Conversion of Israel, whose principal seat is located at the basilica of the Ecce Homo, Via Dolorosa, Jerusalem.
In 1918, at the suggestion of a Capuchin father, Masses began to be celebrated anew for the conversion of Jews, especially during the month of June.
