CATHOLIC GUILD OF JEWS. - Association erected in England on 19 Dec. 1917 to help the conversion of the Jews through prayer and through the work of the press and by means of conferences. The members must recite a prayer every day and offer a Holy Communion for the purpose of the association. It is aggregated to the Archconfraternity of Prayer for the Conversion of Israel, whose principal seat is at the basilica of the Ecce Homo, via Dolorosa, Jerusalem.
In 1918, at the suggestion of a Capuchin father, novenas of Masses began to be celebrated for the conversion of the Jews, especially during the month of June.
