CATHOLIC GUILD OF JEWS. – Association established in England on 19 December 1917 to assist the conversion of the Jews through prayer and through the work of the press and by means of conferences. Members must recite a prayer each day and offer a Holy Communion for the purpose of the association. It is affiliated with the Archconfraternity of Prayer for the Conversion of Israel, whose principal headquarters are located at the Basilica of the Ecce Homo, via Dolorosa, Jerusalem.
In 1918, at the suggestion of a Capuchin friar, novenas of Masses began to be celebrated for the conversion of the Jews, especially during the month of June.
