BONAVENTURA da POTENZA, blessed. — A Conventual Franciscan, born in Potenza on 4 January 1651, died at Ravello on 26 October 1711. He entered religious life in 1666. Drawn to the mystical life, he abandoned his studies for some time, since he could apply himself to them only with difficulty. In 1675, at Amalfi, he was ordained a priest. He resided in various convents, at Maranola, Giuliano, Capri, and Isola d'Ischia; and especially in the latter, through preaching and the exercise of charity toward the sick, he fully manifested his apostolic ardor. At Nocera dei Pagani, he was master of novices from 1703 to 1707. Beatified on 29 June 1775.
