CAESARIUS OF NAZIANZUS, Saint. - He lived in Cappadocia in the 4th century, was the brother of St. Gregory, the youngest of the family, born in Arianzus in 330; from 361 to 368 he was a physician at the court of Constantinople under Constantius, Julian the Apostate and Valens. In 368 he was miraculously saved from the earthquake of Nicaea, and only then did he resolve to receive baptism and renounce the world. He died shortly afterward. The Dialogi quatuor attributed to him in PG 38, 851-1190 are not, however, his.
