CESARIUS of NAZIANZUS, saint. – He lived in Cappadocia in the 4th century, the brother of St. Gregory and the younger of the family, born in Arianzo in 330; from 361 to 368 he was a physician at the court of Constantinople under Constantius, Julian the Apostate, and Valens. In 368 he was miraculously saved from the earthquake at Nicaea, and only then did he decide to receive baptism and renounce the world. He died shortly afterward. The Dialogi quatuor attributed to him in PG 38, 851–1190, however, are not his.
