COMPULTERIA (Cubulteria). — An ancient diocese of Campania situated between Treglia and Alvignano. It is mentioned solely by St. Gregory the Great in the year 599, who, however, writes that it had already been “pro pec- catis clero et pontifice destituta” (Jaffé-Watten- bach, 1518-19). Some Christian inscriptions from the 6th century remain, one of which bears the date 559 (CIL, X, 4613-14; 4629-30).
