CORAZZINI, SERGIO. - Poet, b. in Rome on 6 February 1886, d. there on 18 June 1907. The same friends who supported him during his life oversaw, after his death, the edition of the Liriche (v. definitive collection edited by F. M. Martini, Naples 1935).
These friends belonged to the circle of Cronache latine (1905-1906), a review attuned to that desolate and forlorn sentiment later defined as crepuscular. C. moves through a poetry of melancholy inspiration reflecting themes from Pascoli and D'Annunzio, and still more from Verlaine, Laforgue, Samain, Jammes, and Maeterlinck. Certain themes of faith are sometimes present in the Liriche, especially in poems such as Dolore and Cappella in campagna; yet these themes do not succeed in resolving his anxious search for peace and religious certainty.
