DAVANZATI, CHIARO. — Florentine poet of the second half of the thirteenth century. Almost 200 poems remain by him, mostly love poems, but also moral, theological, and political ones: some closely imitating Provençal models, others not lacking in stilnovistic delicacy or original realistic touches, and also noble and vigorous accents, as when D. mourns Florence in decline and curses the factions.
