DELIRIO. — A morbid error in judgment and appraisal that cannot be corrected by contrary sensations or experiences, the reasonable criticism of others, or the evidence of opposing facts. When organized into a firm ideational-emotional complex, the delirium becomes invincible due to the exalted affective tone, psycho-sensory alterations (illusions, hallucinations), memory disturbances, and the subject’s deficient intellectual and critical maturity. Present in many mental illnesses, it assumes a systematic, organized structure in paranoia, forming a solid, coherent, and logical edifice based on unreal premises.
