At the beginning of the 18th century they were the most vigorous representatives of the Russian "Old Believers" who were without priests. At the same time they also distinguished themselves as prolific writers of ascetic and polemical works. A. composed the Pomorskie otvety, that is, the reply of the Russian peoples of the north in answer to 106 questions addressed by a "missionary" of the official Church to the "Old Believers."
The book was never refuted by the state Church.
