At Făgăraş, however, only Bishop Giovanni Giurgiu resided, because his successor transferred his see to Blaj. On May 10, 1950, the auxiliary bishop of Făgăraş and Alba Iulia, Msgr. Basilio Atenie, died in the Văcărești prison in Bucharest for the cause of the Faith.
