FRANCESCO MARIA FIORENTINI. — Physician of Lucca, d. 1673.
Passionate about historical studies, he produced an edition of the Martyrologium Hieronymianum based on the Luccan manuscript codices (Lucca 1668), which he believed to be the original text of St. Jerome, but which is in fact one of the recensions closest to us. Another work, De nisi panis fermentati et asyunt (Lucca 1680), dedicated to Cardinal Bona, is of little importance.
