GEZONE di TORTONA. - Theologian and Benedictine abbot, d. ca. 980. He was a priest of Tortona when Bishop Giselprando appointed him abbot of the new monastery of SS. Pietro e Mariano (Tortona).
Around 950 he wrote the De Corpore et Sanguine Christi, in which he incorporated the treatise of Pascasio Radberto (v.). Mabillon, who had discovered two manuscripts of it, printed only the praefatio and the titles of the chapters. Muratori, relying on a new codex from the Ambrosiana, edited the complete work, omitting, however, the twenty-three chapters taken from Pascasio and the better-known quotations from the Fathers. This text was reprinted by Migne (PL 137, 371-406).
