GIOLITO DE' FERRARI, Giovanni Gabriele, called Gabriel. - He is the greatest bookseller, publisher and printer of this name, b. shortly after the first decade of the 16th century, d. in the first months of 1578.

He had a prodigious activity that must be placed between the years 1536-78, with an increasing and ever-improved output with which he dominated, from his "Libreria della Fenice" in Venice, the publishing field of a good part of his century; he was, in fact, the publisher of most of the men of letters of his time. He also published numerous religious, ascetic and devotional texts and of them formed two collections entitled "Ghirlanda spirituale", with 14 vols., and "Fiori", with 12 vols.
