GUAJARAMIN

GUAJARAMIN. - Prelature nullius and city in the State of Matto Grosso in Brazil.

It has an area of 60,000 sq. km., with 15,000 inhabitants, of whom 10,000 are Catholic; it has 1 parish with 2 diocesan priests and 2 regular priests, 1 male religious community and 1 female religious community.

The prelature was created by Pope Pius XI with the apostolic constitution *Animarum cura* of March 1, 1929, by separating it from the diocese of S. Luigi de Cáceres and the prelature of Porto Velho, elevating the church of N. S. del Perpetuo Soccorso to the status of prelatial church; the prelature is a suffragan of Cuiabá.
