CHARLES GUÉRIN. — French poet, born at Lunéville on 29 Dec. 1873, died there on 17 March 1907.

His first collections of verse, *Fleurs de neige* (1893); *Joies grises* (1894); *Le sang des crépuscules* (1895), show the influence of Symbolism. His personality asserts itself in *Le cœur solitaire* (1898), *Le semeur de cendres* (1901), *L’homme intérieur* (1905), works that reveal his most intimate feelings and the long travail of his soul, which raised him from scepticism to faith.
