« INVICTE MARTYR, UNICUM ». — Hymn of Lauds in the Common of a martyr, by an unknown author; it is already found in manuscripts of the ninth century (cf. C. Dreves, C. Blume, Anal. hymn. I, Leipzig, p. 129).
Of the martyr, victor over his enemies and enjoying the eternal reward of this victory, the poet extols the merits and implores his patronage, so as to flee the contagion of evil and merit eternal life.
