« INVICTE MARTYR, UNICUM ». — Hymn of Lauds in the Common of a Martyr, of unknown authorship; it is already found in manuscripts from the 9th century (cf. C. Dreves, C. Blume, Anal. hymn. I, Leipzig, p. 129).
Of the martyr, conqueror of enemies, and who enjoys the eternal reward of this victory, the poet extols his merits and implores his patronage to flee the contagion of evil and merit eternal life.
