"INVICTE MARTYR, UNICUM". - Hymn of Lauds in the Common of a martyr, by an unknown author; it is already found in manuscripts of the 9th century (cf. C. Dreves, C. Blume, Anal. hymn. I, Leipzig, p. 129).
The poet extols the merits of the martyr, conqueror of his enemies, who enjoys the eternal reward of this victory, and implores his patronage in order to escape the contagion of evil and merit eternal life.
