IRA IUSTA CONDITORIS. - Hymn of Matins for the feast of the Most Precious Blood, composed and inserted into the Breviary under Pius IX.

The power of the blood of Christ, which has washed the world from the stains of sin, is immense. Divine wrath punished the transgression of all humanity with the flood: God's mercy saved the world with the blood of his Son. Bathed by this blood, the earth will no longer yield thorns, but flowers, and bitterness will be changed into infinite sweetness. The Lord has set the servant free.
