LAMBERT (Lamprecht) of Ratisbon (Regensburg). - Franciscan mystical poet of the 13th century, of whom nothing is known apart from his works.

While still a secular, but conversing with the Friars Minor of Ratisbon (he names among others Berthold [v.] of Ratisbon and John the Englishman) he composed in German verse shortly after 1237 a life of St. Francis: Sanct Francisken Leben, following in the footsteps of the first life of the Saint written in 1228-29 by Thomas of Celano. Having then entered the Order, he wrote around 1250, also in verse, Tochter Syon, following a Latin treatise of the identical title Filia Sion, and moreover the doctrines of his provincial minister Gerard. It is an allegorical work on the soul (filia Sion), yearning for Heaven. The two works were published by K. Weinhold, Lamprecht von Regensburg. Sanct Francisken Leben und Tochter Syon (Paderborn 1880).
