LAMBERTO (LAMPRECHT) of RATISBONA (REGENSBURG). - Franciscan mystical poet of the thirteenth century, of whom no information is available apart from his works.
Still a layman, but in contact with the Friars Minor of Ratisbona (he mentions among others Bertoldo [v.] di
Ratisbona and Giovanni Anglico), he composed in German verse shortly after 1237 a life of St. Francis: Sanct Francisken Leben, following in the footsteps of the first life of the Saint written in 1228–29 by Tommaso da Celano. Having subsequently entered the Order, he wrote about 1250, likewise in verse, Tochter Syon, following a Latin treatise of the identical title, Filia Sion, and, moreover, the doctrines of his provincial minister Gerardo. It is an allegorical work on the soul (filia Sion), yearning for Heaven. The two works were published by K. Weinhold, Lamprecht von Regensburg.
