MARZAGAGLIA, GAETANO. – Priest, born in Chiampo Vicentino on 8 August 1716, died in Verona in July 1787. For several years he taught geometry at the Royal Military College in Verona. Having then embraced the ecclesiastical career, he became rector of the Seminary of Verona and finally parish priest of S. Egidio.
He made known the work of Christian Wolff with the celebrated edition of the Ramanzini of Verona, which he illustrated with interesting and continuous annotations. He published: a small collection of mathematical subjects and various pamphlets on ascetical matters; but his most important work, in which the author proves himself a learned and sure theologian, is the Enchiridion mysticum pro directoribus animarum (Verona 1766), which may still be considered a valuable aid for the formation of skilled spiritual directors.
