MISSIONARY SISTERS OF THE MOST BLESSED SACRAMENT AND MARY IMMACULATE. - The Institute was founded at Granada by Maria Riquelme di Gesù, who was its superior until 1930. In 1896 it was canonically erected as a diocesan institute; in 1909 it received the decree of praise and in 1912 that of approval, together with the temporary approval of the Constitutions.
The general house was transferred first to Barcelona, then to Madrid and then again to Granada. On 2 August 1938 the definitive Constitutions were approved, even though there were only four houses and 45 professed sisters. The special purpose of the Institute is the perpetual adoration of the Most Holy Sacrament, the teaching, even free of charge, of youth, and the missionary apostolate among the sick.
In 1948 the sisters numbered 124, the novices 30, distributed in 16 houses.
