MOSÈ III SUNETZI. - Katholikos of the Armenians (1628-33), commonly called Tathevazti because he was educated in the monastery of Tathev.
Eager for study and spiritual asceticism from childhood, he followed the great masters of his time, Serapione Urhayetzi and Gregorio Kesaratzi. Elected katholikos of Egmiadzin, he carried out reforming activity, exercising great influence in the monastic, cultural, and moral revival of Eastern Armenia.
He maintained friendly relations with Pope Urban VIII. He died in a reputation for holiness and remains a figure of primary importance in the history of the Armenian Church.
