NGOZI, APOSTOLIC VICARIATE OF. — In the northern part of Urundi (Belgian mandated territory); entrusted to the Society of Missionaries of Africa; derived from the division of the apostolic vicariate of Urundi (14 July 1949), which gave rise to N. in the northern part, and to Kitega in the southern part. For the various events concerning the entire territory of Urundi, V. ERITREA.

N. has an area of 10,800 sq. km. and a population of 629,000 inhabitants, of whom 196,931 are Catholics, 97,107 catechumens, 328,540 pagans, 12 main missionary stations, 8 indigenous priests and 34 foreign priests. Schools and various missionary works of assistance flourish there, as well as associations of Catholic Action.
