« O SOL SALUTIS, INTIMIS ». – Hymn of Lauds for Lent, by an unknown author; it is found in manuscripts as early as the 10th century.
Lent is the season of penance, a propitious time for receiving heavenly gifts, the season of salvation: such is the guiding concept of the hymn, which is connected with the Epistle of the Mass for the First Sunday of Lent.
