O Sol Salutis, Intimis

O SOL SALUTIS, INTIMIS. - Hymn of Lauds for Lent, by an unknown author; it is found in manuscripts as early as the 10th century.

Lent is the time of penance, a favorable time for receiving heavenly gifts, a time of salvation: such is the informing concept of the hymn, which is linked to the Epistle of the Mass of the First Sunday of Lent.
