Opus Decusque Regium Reliqueras

Italian original Cite

"OPUS DECUSQUE REGIUM RELIQUERAS." - Hymn of Lauds in the Office of St. Elizabeth, queen of Portugal (July 8), written by Urban VIII, who had canonized her in 1625.

The hymn is entirely a prayer to the Saint who, despising riches and honors, dedicated herself to the service of God and, not allured by the grandeurs of the earth, enjoys in heaven the deserved reward. May she also obtain for us union and charity in works, as the miracle of the roses suggests.
