CHRISTIAN WORKERS OF SAINT JOSEPH CALASANZIO. – Religious congregation founded in Vienna in 1889 by Fr. Antonio Maria Schwartz and approved by the Holy See in 1926 and 1939. The members are popularly called «Calasantini».
It consists of priests and lay brothers particularly devoted to assisting industrial workers, especially young people, through trade schools, boarding institutions, retreats, missions for workers, and charitable works. In Austria the first «Social Seminary for Young People» was founded, where Christian social doctrine is taught for two years to future workers and technical supervisors.
The Congregation also has houses in Hungary and Bohemia and numbers 60 priests and 30 brothers.
