PEZ (PETZ), HIERONYMUS. — In the world Franz Philipp, younger brother and assistant and continuator of Bernardo, born on 24 February 1685 at Ybbs, he entered Melk in 1703, where he died on 14 October 1762. After studying in Vienna, he was professor at the abbey gymnasium, master of novices, subprior and, after his brother’s death (1735) until his own death, librarian. He was chiefly interested in Austrian history, publishing, among many other works: Scriptores rerum austriacorum (3 vols., Leipzig–Regensburg 1721–45), still useful; Acta s. Colomanni (1713) and Historia s. Leopoldi, Austriae marchionis (1747).
