POLYEUTO, Saint, Martyr. - On his tomb, at Melitene in Armenia, a church already existed at the end of the 4th century, and another was dedicated to him at Constantinople in the 5th century.

The Greeks celebrate him on January 9, while in the Martirologio geronimiano he is commemorated on the 7th and in the romano on February 13. He seems to have perished under Decius. The Passio, probably of the 5th century, is a reworking of an older homily, but it is stuffed with legendary elements.
