The martyrology entry, "Germanianus," was certainly drawn from the Ecclesiastical History of Eusebius, where the martyrdom of some disciples of Origen, under Septimius Severus, is reported. Besides P., the martyrs include Serenus, Heraclides, Hero, another Serenus, Heraclides, Bassides, Potamena (q.v.) and Marcella, almost all neophytes or catechumens, disciples of the young Origen (q.v.) in the school of Alexandria.
